“Perdido Beach” A cabaret ‘post card’ from the Perdido Beach Resort where Holly was based for seven years in Orange Beach, Ala. This CD is a spicy gumbo of jazz, pop, and country. Watch out for surprises and liner notes from Dakin Williams, Tennessee’s only living sibling, who led Holly to the “Cold Tooth Blues”. Recorded in 1999.
“The Florida Springfest Sessions, Vol. 1” Holly and guitarist Jim Armstrong bring out the beauty of Jimmy Gillis’ haunting ballad, “Why Am I?” More various selected Springfest performers worth listening to like ‘Filthy Rich.’ Released in 1999.
“Deep Purple” Holly Shelton & John Colianni, Holly teams with Mel Torme’s former pianist and music director, John Colianni and trio, for a collection of not so normal standards like Mose Allison’s “Your Mind Is On Vacation,” “Song For My Father” by Horace Silver, with many tasteful and surprising choices. Recorded in New York in 2000.
Holly Shelton & The Back Room Boys “Back to Beale Street”, Holly’s Memphis touring group brings out the best in her hometown roots. Even a Joni Mitchell song shows up here as well as the music of W.C. Handy, the father of Memphis music, Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, and other choice jazz writers. Released in 2002.
